To cap off what's been a week crammed full of royal baby news, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry yesterday announced they're expecting another baby, which I think we can all agree is joyous information! Seeing as the couple are no longer on social media, they shared their happy news via a statement from their spokesperson.

It read: "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."

The statement was accompanied by a gorgeous black-and-white photograph of Meghan and Harry, in which Meghan's baby bump is clearly visible underneath her dress. The couple are pictured in the photo looking lovingly at one another in the garden of their Montecito home. Prince Harry is sitting on the grass wearing a casual linen shirt and trousers, stroking his wife's hair as he gazes down at her. Meghan Markle can be seen lying on the ground, her head resting in Harry's lap, as she touches her bump and smiles up at him. All in all, it's a pretty romantic shot - and one that was perfectly timed for their Valentine's Day announcement.

The picture is clearly a professional one, taken by Meghan's friend and photographer Misan Harriman. But unless you'd forgotten, we're in the middle of a pandemic at the moment and there are certainly no masks present in the picture at all. So, how did they manage it?

Through the power of technology, it seems. Harriman took to Instagram yesterday to congratulate his friend, the Duchess of Sussex on such happy news. And while he was there, the photographer gave a sneaky insight into how the photoshoot took place. "Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow," wrote Harriman. "Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!" he continued, adding the hashtags: "#remoteshoot #shotonipad #shotbymisan."

Cleverly, Meghan and Harry were alone in their garden, having set up an iPad which was remotely connected to the photographer at his home all the way in London. He would have been on hand to ensure the angles and the lighting were all in order, and taken the snap from a safe absence. Genius!

There was some real symbolism in the shot, too, according to Harriman. Speaking to Vogue, he explained: "With the tree of life behind them and the garden representing fertility, life and moving forward, they didn’t need any direction, because they are, and always have been, waltzing through life together as absolute soulmates." Well, that's a nice sentiment if ever I heard one.

Meghan and Harry's news comes amid various other royal baby announcements, meaning it's set to be a busy year on that front. Just days ago Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, welcomed her first child into the world – a son, with her husband Jack Brooksbank, whose name has currently not been revealed. And another of Harry's cousins, Zara Tindall, is also expecting a child, with her husband, Mike. They already have two daughters, Mia and Lena.

How exciting for the Queen, who will be adding another two great-grandchildren to her tribe before the year is out!
