A hotel in one of Swindon's popular country parks is set to reopen after having millions invested into a refurbishment.

Lydiard Park's hotel and conference centre at the park will reopen this spring following the £2.6m makeover, as part of efforts to make the destination more 'self-sustainable'.

The project included a major refurbishment of the hotel’s bedrooms, reception, and restaurant and the addition of a brand-new bar and conferencing suite.

Set within the historic Grade II estate on the western edge of Swindon, Lydiard Park Hotel will cater to business and leisure overnight stays, weddings, private functions and corporate events.

Thirty-two bedrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment with double, family and twin rooms are now available to book online with rates starting from £80 a night, including breakfast. All rooms are en-suite and include tea and coffee-making facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The bar and restaurant will be open to hotel guests and park visitors offering a new dining experience in a contemporary setting. The menu has been 'carefully curated' by the hotel’s executive chef, and features 'vibrant flavours and plant-based options'.

The Palm Bar will be open daily in the spring between 10am and 10pm featuring an extensive drinks menu. Comfortable outdoor seating has also been added to the bar’s private courtyard for people to enjoy in the summer months.

The hotel’s largest function room, the Luxborough, has been remodelled into an open-plan, spacious area for events, conferences and special occasions with its own dedicated private bar.

Efforts have also been made to make the venue accessible to all users, including the levelling out of floors, the addition of an accessibility compliant bedroom and new toilet facilities.

The renovation project has also included new roofing and flooring throughout to preserve the building for years to come.

Councillor Matty Courtliff, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for culture, heritage, leisure, and town centre experience, said: “This is something that has been on the cards for a long time and I’m excited to finally see the launch of the new Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

“Alongside works that have already been completed, this project is part of an ongoing programme to ensure this much-loved site is self-sustainable, which will protect its future as a publicly owned, council-run asset.

“I can’t wait to visit and use the new facilities myself and I encourage everyone to do the same.”
