Prince Charles is reportedly "hoping to remedy" his relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and has invited the pair to stay with him at his home when they next return to the UK. The move has been branded an "olive branch" by royal experts, and seems to be a step in the right direction as the Royal Family begin to mend their strained relationship with the Sussexes.

As we all know, back in 2020 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would be stepping down as Senior Royals, and making the move to California to live a quieter life. Since then, they welcomed a daughter, baby Lilibet, and although they have not returned to the UK as a family of four, Prince Harry has visited twice in the last year – for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip, and to unveil a memorial to his mother Princess Diana.

But, we could very well be seeing the Sussexes return to the UK in the near future, with Prince Charles extending an invitation for them to stay with him and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, should they decide to visit. "The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss," a royal source told The Mirror.

"He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children," the insider added. "This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time."

As for how the Prince of Wales has been trying to mend their relationship during the pandemic, the source revealed that: "In the meantime there has been a series of good natured and enjoyable calls between them all which is something the Prince very much looks forward to."

It comes just days after news broke that Prince Harry is seeking a judicial review of the Home Office's refusal to allow him to privately fund police protection for himself and his family when they're in the UK. Speaking to The Guardian, a legal representative for Prince Harry said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed while in the UK. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home."
