When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed their 2017 Christmas family portrait, everyone was expecting snow and festive fun.

A lot of royal fans were left disappointed at the prim and polished photograph of William, Kate, George and Charlotte that was taken some months ago, and not at all festive.

Twitter uses shared their dismay by adding alternative backgrounds to the rather bland photo including snow and an ice cap featuring a polar bear.

Basically, everyone was hoping for a Christmas card that resembled something close to what the Swedish Royal Family has released.

Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and their two children – five-year-old Princess Estelle and one-year-old Prince Oscar – are pictured looking relaxed, merry and surrounded by swathes of snow.

Taken in the grounds of Haga Palace, the foursome look like any other normal family, dressed in their winter gear and laughing in the snow.

It’s not miles from the family photo that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released following their ski trip in March 2016.

The Swedish royals also released a video showing how royals do winter with shots of the family having a snowball fight and sledding.

We know which photoshoot we would rather have been on.

Better luck next year, William and Kate.
