On today's (October 2) episode of GMB, Reid hinted that one of her fellow Good Morning Britain presenters, Ben Shephard, had been chosen to join Holly Willoughby on the ITV flagship programme.
"Is it in revenge for This Morning nicking Ben Shephard?" she then remarked.
An ITV spokesperson told Digital Spy: "Ben is a much loved and popular presenter on ITV but no such decisions have been made."
Since Schofield stepped down from the daytime show back in May, after 21 years presenting alongside Willoughby, speculation has been rife over who would be replacing him.
Sources have recently claimed that Shephard had impressed bosses at ITV after co-hosting the show last week with Willoughby. He was previously a stand-in presenter for This Morning between 2005 and 2011.
He has a long association with ITV, where he currently hosts the game shows Tipping Point and Ninja Warrior UK.
Shephard previously hosted a short-lived revival of The Krypton Factor for ITV, and also presented the first three series of The X Factor's spin-off The Xtra Factor.
Since Schofield's departure from ITV earlier this year, Willoughby has been paired with rotating co-hosts including Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, Dermot O'Leary and Craig Doyle.
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am, and This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am, on ITV1 and ITVX.
