Susanna Reid announces break from Good Morning Britain saying 'it's my last day'
Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has announced live on air that Wednesday 11 December is her last day on the show, but that she will be back after the Christmas break. While celebrating the success of the 1 Million Minutes campaign on the show, she confirmed to viewers it was her last day in the studio, saying: “It’s my last day, and we’ve achieved a new record.”
The morning show’s 1 Million Minutes campaign aims to encourage viewers to pledge their time to charities that tackle the issues of loneliness. Since launching in 2016, a staggering 672 million minutes of time have been donated to charities in need of volunteers who can connect with those who feel alone.
On Wednesday, Susanna was celebrating as this year's campaign hit a new record of 124 million minutes donated. She said: "Right, ending on a positive note, our amazing 1 Million Minutes campaign. I just want to say thank you to everybody who has pledged their minutes and added to that campaign. We have a special programme on, on Christmas Day but this is my last chance to say thank you to you before Christmas because it's my last programme before Christmas Day and we have got to 124 million minutes."

Susannah was hosting the show with Richard Madeley, but last month she spoke out about her experience working with former co-presenter Piers Morgan, who sensationally stormed off Good Morning Britain in March 2021, following an on-air disagreement with Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle.
The 59 year old has been critical of Meghan and Prince Harry since they stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family, but his debate with Alex saw him temporarily leave GMB.
In an insight into that time, Susanna opened up about their friendship behind the scenes and what it was like in the days leading up to Piers' surprising exit. Speaking to The Times, she said of the former Britain's Got Talent judge: "I mean, first, he’s tough - I don’t mean tough to work with, he’s great to work with - but he could start a fight in an empty room, and he would start a fight with me every morning on air, so I toughened up."
Susanna added: "It gives you confidence in your own opinion and in your skills. So that was brilliant. But second, he gets so much trolling that my little bit felt like almost nothing. I thought, 'If he can deal with all of that, I can deal with this.'"
The pair presented together for six years until Piers departed the morning news show. Since then, Susannah has hosted Good Morning Britain with stars including Richard Madeley, former politician Ed Balls and Robert Rinder.
