Surrey dog attack victim named as former Island schoolgirl
A woman who died in a dog attack in Surrey, on January 12, has been named as former Isle of Wight resident, Natasha Johnston.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned, until June 29 when the circumstances around Ms Johnston's death will be considered by Surrey Coroner Richard Travers.
Police have described the 28-year-old's death at Gravelly Hill in Caterham as a 'tragic accident.'
The Croydon resident was bitten while walking dogs and could not be saved by paramedics called to the scene.
On social media, family and friends have been paying tribute to the former Ryde High School pupil.
No prosecutions have been brought and police have confirmed none of the dogs are banned breeds.
On January 26, eight dogs remained in the custody of Surrey Police and reportedly included a Leonberger, two Dachshunds, a Cockapoo and a Collie.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Josephine Horner, said: "The dogs continue to be cared for at private kennels to ensure their welfare and their owners are being kept informed."
