Kitri has a reputation for creating dresses that become sell-out hits, and this summer is no different.
Known for its dreamy silhouettes and fun prints, it's no surprise that Kitri's latest collection is full of must-have pieces. This season, its Margot dress has become the label's reigning queen, with a waiting list of over 800 people. The dress is designed for a flattering fit with playful puff sleeves, and can be worn on and off the shoulder. It also features elasticated panels to temper its voluminous shape.
Gingham is one of summer's most perennially popular prints that always comes back each season. No longer the standard uniform of five-year-old girls celebrating their birthday parties, gingham works as a modern summer must-have when styled the right way.
If prints aren't your thing, the Margot dress also comes in a vibrant coral hue, perfect for sunny evenings. Make the coral pop by pairing with statement chunky gold jewellery.
As it became more apparent that summer was going to be very different this year, Kitri set about editing the collection with staying-in in mind. Rather than focusing on more of a holiday wardrobe, the focus was set to feeling comfortable at home, while also evoking summer and making the wearer feel special during these hard times.
Breezy summer dresses are still at the heart of the collection, with puff sleeves, vintage-inspired silhouettes, bright palettes and shell button details that are quintessentially Kitri.
Last year, Kitri's Leonara dress had a similar buzz around it, with a waitlist of over 500 people and sold out in an impressive 48 hours when it was first launched last March.
Inspired by "milkmaids and picnics", the gingham (we see a pattern here) dress was the dress of the summer.
Kitri founder Haeni Kim explained to Bazaar why it was such a hit: "It’s a versatile dress that can be worn to the office, but also take you easily into the weekend."
"I think it's just the right amount of girly," she said at the time. "The square neckline is super flattering without being too revealing and the hot pink gingham just screams summer."
"I think the midi-length really helps," says Kim when asked how to give gingham a grown-up appeal. "We originally designed it as a short dress but realised that it looks a little too girly and baby-ish, which is not what we want at all. I would wear it with some fresh white trainers with an anklet perhaps for the day for the city girl look, and then dress them up with some square-toe 90s-style strappy sandals for an event or for the evening."
