Succession, West Side Story, and Ted Lasso are among the big winners at the 2022 Golden Globes.
Though this year's awards were not televised, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association met to honour the year's best performances and productions in film and television. Fans followed along on social media, through some enthusiastic and slightly odd Tweets.
Succession won multiple awards in the drama TV section, including Best Television Series for its phenomenal third season. Jeremy Strong and Sarah Snook also took home awards for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Television Series, Drama, with the mini-sweep showing good chances for the HBO dramas chances at the Emmys later this year.
On the comedy side, Ted Lasso actors Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham took home awards for their performances, continuing their award run after the Apple TV+ comedy swept the Emmys last year. Hacks also won big, receiving the award for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, with lead Jean Smart also winning Best Actress.
Other TV roles honoured include Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown, Michael Keaton for the Hulu drama Dopesick, Korean actor O Yeong-su for Squid Game, and The Underground Railroad, which won for limited series. Michaela Jaé "Mj" Rodriguez won for her performance in the final season of Pose, becoming the first openly trans actress to win a Golden Globe.
Musicals also won big at the Globes this year, with West Side Story taking home Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. Stars Ariana DeBose and Rachel Zegler also received awards for their performances in the Steven Spielberg film. Other musical wins include Andrew Garfield for his Tick, Tick, Boom performance, and Disney's Encanto for Best Motion Picture, Animated.
In the dramatic film categories, Nicole Kidman won her fifth Golden Globe for playing Lucille Ball in the biopic Being the Ricardos. Jane Campion received Best Director for the Netflix western The Power of the Dog, which also won for best dramatic film. Billie Eilish and Finneas also took home Best Original Song for their Bond theme, "No Time to Die."
