It has been a punishing year for those who enjoy watching rich people being cruel to each other, with the "Machiavellian fucks" and hyper-decanters of Succession not gracing our screens for month after month. The release date for season three has been pushed vaguely toward the end of this year after filming was put on hold due to the pandemic, but now, as spring peers around the corner and the cast of Succession are spotted filming on the streets of New York, brighter days are coming.

Yesterday Nicholas Braun, who plays part-whipping boy part-secret menace Cousin Greg on the HBO show, uploaded a photo to his Instagram of him wearing a suit of the one per cent and giving the lovable idiots gesture of a double thumbs up in front of an electronic sign for Waystar Royco.

"I am an employee of this company, and that’s about all I can say about that!" Braun wrote, which feels like the sort of meaningless yet cryptic cipher which Greg himself would drop into conversation. But has Braun, in true Greg style, actually revealed something major, perhaps that despite siding with Kendall at the explosive end of season two, he is still an employee of the family business and hasn't been caught out for his duplicitous backstabbing? Does that also mean that the sly smirk which Brian Cox's papa Roy gave in the finale was a sign that Kendall too wasn't about to be excommunicated from the family? Are we getting carried away?

The photo also shows Braun without a mask which might mean that the pandemic hasn't been written into the storyline, but might just mean that he's come up for air from his Waystar branded mask. It's hard to know for sure.

Earlier this week Jeremy Strong, who won an Emmy for playing Kendall Roy on the show, and more importantly recently wound up Aaron Sorkin with a fart machine on the set of The Trial of the Chicago 7, was snapped strolling around the city in very Kendall garms, complete with matching mask.

We can only assume that Strong is firmly in character and as such has taken to wandering the streets in a daze to contemplate fucking over father dearest. That's the vibe we're getting from these photos and definitely not us projecting in the absence of any concrete news on the show.

The actor was spotted filming last November in the same brown colour palette, walking through Brooklyn and carrying a bag of trash. This feels like very Kendall on the edge behaviour and not the sign of someone still firmly in the family fold, but really, you never know with this deeply dysfunctional family.
