Style Hunter: Milan's Fash Pack Are Hat Mad!

What did we tell you? Hats are sooo hot right now! Fresh off the A/W’12 New York catwalks and straight into the wardrobes of fashion editors up and down this style planet are statement headpieces. Not just a simple fedora, beanie or somesuch easy-peasy headgear mind, there’s MAJOR hattage out there on the fashion week streets, and some of it is the really mad kind…

It all started with Stephen Jones and Phillip Treacy creating such awe-inspiring outfit toppers for every runway from Marc Jacobs to Victoria Beckham at NYFW. Hats didn’t feature so heavily in London’s autumn vision, but that gave the fash pack a two week window (and a chance to go home and repack) to include a head-turning accessory to their suitcases.

Unsurprisingly, she-of-the-cherry-Piers-Atkinson-headband, Anna Dello Russo, served all others with a heady dose (geddit?) of hat-gear – with all manner of creations topping of her outfits from Balenciaga’s Darth Vader-meets-fisherman pailette encrusted number to a blinding halo and more casual veiled beanie from Jil Sander’s S/S’12 collection (a popular choice for many a FROWer). We also spotted Russian designer and photographer Ulyana Sergeenko in a rather dashing high-hat fedora and shipping heiress Eugenie Niarchos in a jazzy turban. But who wins the crown? Why not scroll through our gallery of head girls above and tell us what you think…
