In this video, TikTok user Liz Lovery demonstrates how to vertically string lights on your Christmas tree, while explaining all the benefits of this method. The pros: When you string them up and down, you use fewer lights. Plus, if some lights go out, it's much easier to change them.

Lovery says she learned the decorating hack from TikTok user Clare Hooper. In Hooper's TikTok, she explains that when decorating Christmas trees used to part of her job, she used the "zig zag" (vertical) method.

Hooper says hanging your lights vertically instead of coiling them means you won't waste lights at the back of your tree.
