Zara McDermott made a triumphant return to Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night for the first live show, following her 'incredibly distressing' experience on the previous series. The 27 year old former Love Island beauty graced the Strictly dance floor last year, but it was later revealed that during training her professional partner Graziano Di Prima kicked her - something his representative confirmed was true. The Italian dancer was quickly dropped from the show by the BBC. However, Zara seems to be putting that to one side as she came out to support her mate Pete Wicks - who she got to know through her boyfriend Sam Thompson. Zara and Sam were all smiles as they posed for snaps wearing matching T-shirts featuring the face of TOWIE star Pete.

"So excited!!!! Team Pete!!!!" the couple said next to their hilarious pictures on Instagram. The lovebirds even sported matching blue denim jeans adorned with numerous pictures of Pete and large black letters spelling out 'Vote Pete Wicks' down the leg. Reality TV queen Zara and I'm A Celeb champ Sam also wore matching black caps emblazoned with Pete's face as they struck a pose for several photos outside the BBC studio. "So excited!!!! Team Pete!!!!" the couple said next to their hilarious pictures on Instagram.

Pete has been gearing up to hit the dance floor with his professional partner Jowita Przysta. In an exclusive interview with OK! Pete revealed that he didn’t actually watch Strictly until Zara took part last year.

“I hadn’t realised what a big production it was. When you see how amazing the pro dancers are, you can’t help but go, ‘Wow.’”

Zara had her well-publicised ups and downs, but has been supportive of his journey. “Zara and Sam have said for years I should do Strictly. They’re going to turn up in special T-shirts… they’re more excited than I am. Sam cried when I told him!”

But Sam’s enjoying putting the pressure on, Pete claims. “He did I’m A Celeb… and won it. He goes, ‘I’m expecting you to do the same.’ I was like, ‘That’s unfair, Sam – I’ve got to learn a whole new talent. You just had to annoy Tony Bellew for a couple of weeks.’”
