Strictly's Pete Wicks on spending Christmas Day alone with his dogs for one sad reason
Strictly star Pete Wicks has said he was spending Christmas Day on his own last year, as he admitted that he finds the festive day "heavy". He revealed he was super happy to be with just his dogs and watching Only Fools And Horses all day.
The TOWIE star, who is currently paired with Jowita Przystal on Strictly said he wouldn't have it any other way. Explaining how he doesn't mind Christmas, but finds it a "heavy day", Pete told The Mirror at the time: "I'm so glad I've been away and missed most of the build up to Christmas. The day itself is fine, but the build up before and the month after is awful. Too much before, and after it you just feel a little blue. For me, I've missed all the build up which is great - but then there's the panic buying of presents."
He continued: "I normally spend Christmas on my own, with the dogs. I find it a heavy, heavy day. I always go and see my mum in the morning and then I generally just sit with the dogs and watch Only Fools And Horses. I've got my reasons! That is pretty much my Christmas, job done. You can't beat the classics, I love the Royle Family too. A bit of Christmas TV with the dogs, living the dream."

Pete supported Sam throughout his time on I'm A Celeb, and was there for the king of the jungle's reunion with Zara McDermott, but said he wasn't joining their Christmas celebrations. Pete and Sam, who became close mates after appearing on Celebs Go Dating together in 2019, have a podcast together called Staying Relevant.
The pair discussed their reunion on the show's iconic rickety bridge after Sam's crowning, which saw the ex-Made in Chelsea star excitedly jump on Pete despite the bridge being unstable.
Pete has now admitted that Sam was told beforehand specifically not to jump on Pete as the bridge is "rickety" and extremely "high up", however he proceeded to do so, prompting Pete to lose his balance.
Pete said: "Yeah, what the funniest part of that is before you get a producer who will have said to Sam on the other end of the bridge, Sam would have been told to stand on a star and Pete is going to come and meet you. Do not JUMP."
He went to say he'd had a discussion with a producer, who insisted Sam had "promised" he wasn't going to jump on the bridge.
"She said, he's promised me he's not going to jump. So Sam jumps. We then get a little bit carried away, but I'm supporting both of our body weight on this bridge," Pete laughed.
He added: "They say you can have your hug but you need to turn around so we can get a shot of both of your faces on the bridge. But at that point, I lost my balance. I had to grab the f***ing bridge to stop us going over, I nearly died!''
