Strictly's Nick Knowles uses DIY skills to turn home with model fiance Katie into a Christmas wonderland
DIY SOS star Nick Knowles isn’t letting his recent injuries get in the way of his Christmas spirit, it seems. The TV star, who left Strictly Come Dancing last month following an injury sustained in rehearsals, managed to decorate his Berkshire home for the Yuletide season despite still wearing an arm brace and a support for his knee.
As Strictly fans will remember, poor Nick was beset with injuries during his time in the dance competition. First, he damaged his arm while changing a tyre on his car by the side of the road early on in the series. Then, while practising his dance for Movie Week, he misjudged a jump and landed badly, injuring his knee. The show gave him a ‘bye’, meaning he and professional partner Luba Mushtuk could miss a week while he recovered, but when he did return to the dance floor on Saturday 12 October, it ended up being his final performance.
Nick and Luba revealed their delayed Movie Week dance, to Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2, but the couple ended up in the dance off and were sent home.

Following his departure from the competition, Nick revealed on 22 October that he would need surgery for his knee, sharing a photo from his hospital bed. This led one fan to ask whether Nick would be recovered enough to perform in the final dance at the end of the current series, which takes place on Saturday 14 December, just three weeks from now. At the time, Nick said: “I’m not sure my injuries will allow - I have to wait for the knee operation until the bicep operation has healed so I can use crutches afterwards. So I don’t think recovery will be in time sadly.”
However, judging by Nick’s ability to decorate his house with some impressive Christmas decorations, and even wobble on a step ladder to hang a few baubles, there could be hope he will be fit enough to return to the dance floor one more time. No doubt utilising his DIY SOS skills with a hammer and nails, he and fiancee Katie Dadzie have decorated his home for the festive season from top to bottom, with sparkling lights outside, baubles and wreaths, matching Christmas trees either side of the entrance, and a large red bow on the front door.
And if that didn’t say ‘Christmas is coming’ loudly enough, Nick has also added flashing reindeers and a giant 12ft teddy bear on his front lawn, and there is a star and an illuminated unicorn peeking out from an upstairs window, too.
