Strictly's Aljaž Škorjanec admits "crying every day" amid wife Janette Manrara's pregnancy
Strictly Come Dancing star Aljaž Škorjanec has admitted to "crying every day" amid wife Janette Manrara's pregnancy.
Back in February, the former Strictly professionals announced that they're expecting their first baby together after trying for some time. Following some unsuccessful attempts, the couple were prepared to begin in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment when Janette became pregnant.
Speaking to OK! about the pregnancy, Aljaž said he's experiencing intense emotions that echo his wife's.
"I'm pregnant with her — I cry pretty much every single day!" he said. "I just watched a couple of videos from Britain's Got Talent and I was sobbing."
Despite the tears, Aljaž admitted that Janette's pregnancy "has been smooth sailing" apart from her experiencing some interrupted sleep and a bit of back ache. He also shared that he's "been ready to be a dad since [he] was about 20 years old".
"With our careers, it was always going to be completely down to Janette's timing," the former pro said of his wife. "Our bodies are our tools and I would never put any pressure on her."
According to Aljaž, the couple finally decided to start trying for a baby when Janette ventured into the world of TV presenting. However, when they were about to turn to IVF, Janette became pregnant.
"It's hard mentally, it's hard physically. It's a big test," Aljaž said of the prospect of IVF.
He added that he's been in awe of his wife throughout this entire pregnancy journey, saying: "I've found a complete new respect for my beautiful little Janette, who I love more than anything. It's a little miracle how we got here."
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
