Strictly's AJ Odudu to host new competition series The Big Interiors Battle
Strictly Come Dancing alum AJ Odudu has been announced as the host for Channel 4's new competition series The Big Interiors Battle.
The Big Interiors Battle will air early in 2023 and sees eight interior designers competing against one another. The designers will each receive the keys to a flat, wherein they have to redesign one of the rooms every week.
After their work has been judged, the contestants will return to their flats and will use key cards to try and enter. If the door goes green, they are through to the next week. If the door goes red, they are out.
Odudu will host the competition series while architect and entrepreneur Dara Huang, the founder of Design Haus Liberty, will judge the contestants' work. The designers will also compete for a special prize, a two-bedroom apartment in Yorkshire.
Odudu spoke about joining the show in a press release, saying: "I'm so excited to be involved in a series that has the potential to genuinely change the winner's life.
"I'm also looking forward to seeing everyone's different styles – as a major interiors obsessive myself, I'll definitely be on the lookout to hopefully pick up some nifty DIY tricks from this cast of pros."
Meanwhile, Huang commented: "I'll be holding contestants to an extremely high standard as there's a lot at stake here – they'll need to employ genuinely innovative design hacks to create something original and impressive."
Odudu has previously hosted several other shows including Big Brother's Bit on the Side along with Emma Willis and Rylan Clark-Neal, plus Married at First Sight: Afters.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows also stream on BBC iPlayer.
