Strictly winner Chris McCausland had viewers in stitches as he attempted to impersonate a Welsh accent while taking a swipe. The comedian appeared on the visual podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked alongside presenter Ed Gamble and series one Traitors' Amanda as the three unpacked all the drama from the eighth episode of the new series, which aired on Thursday evening, January 16.

While on the podcast, the trio spoke about Charlotte, the Faithful-turned-Traitor, who has adopted a fake Welsh accent as part of her game plan to make herself "more trustworthy" amongst her fellow contestant. When asked by Ed whether she thought Charlotte's fake Abergavenny lilt was good, former Welsh Traitor Amanda said: "She's getting away with it, but, yeah, I wouldn't tell her to apply for a job sounding Welsh. You know? It's not that good."

In response, Chris told Amanda: "I mean, if anything, yours is the accent that sounds like it's over the top". He continued, by mimicking a Welsh accent: "If I was going to do a fake Welsh accent, it would be the one that was really, really quite strong!" Amanda and Ed both laughed as Chris added: "That was terrible, wasn't it? Can we edit that bit out." Ed interjected: "That was so bad! Chris, we are not editing that out."

Many took to social media to share their delight that the comedian was on the podcast. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "The Traitors UK Uncloaked is massively improved by the presence of Chris McCausland who has exactly the right balance of respect and snark". Another viewer said: "I love how happy and joyful Chris McCausland seems on Uncloaked", while another responded to the accent swipe and said: "Love that Chris said that Amanda's accent sounds fake".

During the podcast, the trio also spoke about Charlotte becoming a Traitor. In the eighth episode of the new series, viewers got to see Charlotte accept Minah's offer to join her as a Traitor. On Uncloaked, Amanda explained why Charlotte was such a good selection. She said: "Well, she's impersonating her language, for a start, so she is carrying through with the lie, isn't she? So, yeah, I think she would be easy to adapt."

The three also spoke about the missions The Traitors contestants had to complete in the eighth episode. During the recent episode, both the Faithfuls and Traitors had to join forces in finding dolls who were singing nursery rhymes backwards before then finding out the tune. On Uncloaked, the three agreed that the mission seemed "difficult" but "ridiculous". After rewatching a clip of Alexander replicating the nursery rhyme being sang backwards, Chris said: "That does sound like a Welshman's valley choir." While Amanda said it sounded similar to a "goat herder on a mountain".

The Traitors will be aired from Wednesday to Friday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
