Prima cover star Ranvir Singh proved herself to be a talented dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, but narrowly missed out on a spot in the show's final, airing this weekend.
Good Morning Britain broadcaster Ranvir has been giving interviews since being eliminated from Strictly with pro partner Giovanni Pernice, and in one chat she shared an exciting announcement.
Appearing on Lorraine on 16 December, Ranvir revealed she will be presenting the show next week while the host is on holiday.
“I am so excited,” said Ranvir, who will be hosting the show on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, while Andi Peters will return from his summer stint to host the Christmas Eve show.
When Lorraine commented that she will be tuning in from home, Ranvir laughed and added: “I better not mess it up when the boss is watching!”
In the interview, Ranvir went on to reflect on her Strictly journey, saying: “I couldn’t believe how far I had got, to be honest. To get so close and to not make the final, it does hurt a little bit, but in the end, I am glad that we left on a beautiful dance - and I don’t mean the jive obviously!”
Ranvir spoke about pro dancer Giovanni, calling him a perfectionist teacher.
After Lorraine commented that there will be a bond between her and Giovanni that will always last, Ranvir said: “There is. I think it’s because he had to find out a lot about me that went beyond just learning a routine and vice versa really. I found out a lot about him because there was a point where the way he wanted to teach me was making me feel sort of like: ‘Gosh, I don’t think I can do this!’
"And then he, bless his heart, softened his teaching methods for me, less stick more carrot, and then I was like: ‘Okay, I can do this’. It was lovely and it was so kind of him to change his teaching methods in order to make me feel more comfortable. I have enormous respect for him.”
Ravir then spoke about why she struggled with the Latin dances more than the ballroom routines.
“The Latin dances so take a lot more body confidence than ballroom. You are going: ‘Hey, look at me!’ and I am not there yet. I think the thing that was holding me back was I just felt embarrassed," she explained.
However, Ranvir has found confidence in the messages she's received from viewers.
“The messages are so beautiful. ‘You have made me feel braver, I feel inspired, I want to do something more for me, I have realised that you can be confident in one part of your life but completely insecure in another part of your life,'" she said.
"That inner conflict that women have of appearing to be holding it together in one place and then you are exposed in another way. All of a sudden all of your insecurities are totally on the surface, and we avoid that situation. I have avoided that situation for years.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
