Chris crashed out of the competition after landing in the bottom two for the second week in a row, having earned just 54 points out of a possible 80 in Saturday night’s live show.
He and Karim Zeroual found themselves in the dance-off, with the judges unanimously choosing to save the CBBC presenter.
Despite narrowly missing out on a place in the final, Chris insisted he was still “very proud of himself”, telling Tess Daly: “I never ever thought I would make it past week two, genuinely I had no expectations whatsoever, I am astounded and I’ve got to thank Karen [Hauer, his professional partner.
“She is just amazing and is just amazing and so patient its crazy! She is awesome. I had sleepless nights in the build up and there is no-one else who can have made it what it has been.”
Karen told the stand-up comic: “You are an amazing family man who I admire and you are awesome, and I appreciated you literally from week one, not knowing how to walk, and now you are a semi finalist.
“You have made all of us proud and have inspired all of us and I want to thank you for being awesome.”
Each of them will deliver two dances already performed during the series, as well as a Showdance intended to showcase the skills they’ve acquired over the course of the series.
