Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman broke down in tears in Sunday night’s episode (December 8) as the four series' finalists were revealed. Before the dance-off, Chris McCausland and Sarah Hadland were revealed to be the first two celebrities to make it through to the next week. And chatting with Claudia, all three of them got choked up.

But it was Sarah’s message to her professional partner Vito Coppola that reduced Claudia to tears. Sarah explained: “I genuinely thought we were going to be in the dance off, and I really psyched myself up for that. I just couldn't believe it when our names were called out. It feels like it just feels like a dream at the minute.”

Sarah continued with her voice cracking: “I mean, Vito, you believe in me, and I'm so grateful because I couldn't have got here with anybody else. And you know, you put so much work into our routines, and you were so meticulous about everything, and you, you just, you're constantly…

"You know, even when you're not in the rehearsal room, you're going, you're thinking about things, and you're sending me messages, and yeah I'm so grateful.” As Vito pulled Sarah into a hug and told her she ‘deserved all of this’, Claudia admitted "I'm gone", as she also wiped away tears. The BBC show then cut away from the teary cast to Raye who performed on Sunday night (8 December).

During the chat, Chris also got emotional as he confessed that taking part in the show had been “hard” and was one of “top 10 scariest” things he’d ever done. As Claudia hoped to ask him more questions, Chris shut her down and confessed “I can barely talk” and asked her to direct her questions to his pro partner Dianne Buswell instead.

In tonight’s episode, the four finalists emerged after Pete Wicks became the latest celebrity to leave the show. The former TOWIE star was unanimously voted out by the judges after going up against Tasha Ghouri in the last dance-off of the series.

After the results were announced, Pete confessed that he “didn’t necessarily want to do this in the first place” but was “so glad” he did. Pete later released a lengthy statement on Instagram where he apologised to professional partner Jowita Przystał for not getting her to the end. In the final next week and competing for the Glitterball are Chris, Tasha, Sarah and JB Gill.
