Strictly Come Dancing fans urge BBC to make unprecedented change to the show ahead of the final
Strictly Come Dancing fans are urging BBC bosses to put Amy Dowden front and centre in the final of the dancing competition this weekend - especially if her former partner JB Gill wins the competition. The Strictly Come Dancing professional, who was sadly forced to pull out of this year’s series, was partnered with JB Gill, but after her setback, professional Lauren Oakley stepped in to help JB strut his way to the final.
Now fans are demanding for Amy to still get the recognition she deserves after helping JB for the first few weeks and make an appearance this weekend during the final showdance. One said: “Now that JB is through to the final - I hope that he gets the chance to dance with Amy again before the end of the series. Despite going from strength to strength with Lauren - he started the series with Amy and she set him up to be the best version of himself.”
Another tweeted: “Please can JB have both Lauren and Amy in his showdance?” A third said: “If JB makes it to the Final SURELY Amy has to make some sort of cameo appearance in their Showdance?!”

A fourth fan said: “If JB & Lauren get to the final I’d love to see Amy standing with them to hear the final result so if they get the glitterball they can lift it as a team. Both pros have played such important roles in JB’s journey to be the amazing dancer he is."
Amy, 34, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and has bravely opened up about her experience. After a health check in February 2024 revealed that “no evidence of disease” had been found, Amy has since shone a light on navigating her life post-diagnosis.
In an exclusive interview with OK! last month, JB spoke about his dance partnerships with both Lauren and Amy. "Lauren’s been amazing," he said. "It has been an adjustment getting used to different teaching styles with a different dancer, but she’s amazing."
JB also shared that he and Amy have remained close friends. "She messaged this morning just to find out how things are going. We’ve been in touch pretty much every day for the last couple of weeks, just talking about the routine, and offering advice where she can."
Last year, Strictly Come Dancing was won by Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her partner Vito Coppola. They fought off Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
