Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed another big name who will be hitting the dancefloor during this year's Christmas special.

Strictly: It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal confirmed on Monday's show (22 November) that the festive special would be back again this year and, on Wednesday (23 November) another famous face was revealed to be taking part.

The third celebrity to be strutting their stuff this Christmas Day is actor and presenter Mel Giedroyc, who is known for her work on The Great British Bake Off. Mel will be taking to the floor with professional dancer Neil Jones.

The couple joined Rylan on the sofa for a chat about how they're getting on with their training, with Mel joking that the sessions have been "absolutely full-on".

Mel admitted that she is a Strictly superfan and that she is delighted to be taking part in the festive special – and Neil is pretty impressed with her knowledge too.

"It's the greatest thing," he said. "I never realised how good it is to dance with someone who is obsessed. She knows more about the show than I do!"

Mel joked: "That doesn't mean I know the moves, Neil, I just know who won each year! But what I don't have in skill, I will try to make up for in enthusiasm."

The announcement follows yesterday's revelation that furniture restorer, presenter and The Repair Shop star Jay Blades is taking part in this year's festive special with professional partner Luba Mushtuk, while First Dates star Fred Sirieix will also be stepping onto the floor with dancer Dianne Buswell.

Further stars taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 2021 will be revealed shortly.

In the meantime, this year's main show continues on Saturday (27 November), with the series having confirmed today which dances the remaining six couples will be performing.

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 airs on Saturday nights on BBC One, with results shows every Sunday. Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
