Sitting a driving test is one of the most daunting experiences.

Passing your all-important motoring exam can be quite crucial though, if you have your heart set on getting a car. But before you can get excited about your new wheels, practical tests behind the wheel can be difficult for learners to pass.

But now according to one TikTok expert, people must stop doing one mistake in their driving test which is possibly ruining their chances of a good result. The driving instructor, known as Lyle, told his 66,400 followers: "Stop doing this.

"Don't make this mistake in your driving test, this is a very small mistake that you're probably making but try to a void this and try to do this instead. A lot of people when they get a direction on the driving test, they signal and then check the mirrors.

"The examiner doesn't want that, don't do that. He doesn't want to see you signalling first and then checking the mirrors because you don't know if it's safe to actually turn yet. You can't really signal left for example if there's a bike right beside you to your left.

"That bike is going to think that you haven't seen him or maybe you have seen him and you don't care and you're going to just turn and you could be on top of him, that's unsafe okay."

So what you should technically do, according to Lyle, is let the bike pass you then wait for the right time to signal. But it's important to check your mirrors first. He continued: "It's always MSP – Mirrors, Signal and Position.

"Not signal, mirrors and position, that's SMP, which is wrong." Since he shared the minute-long video on TikTok, it scooped 30,300 likes and hundreds of comments. One joked: "What about PMSP – Panic, Mirror and Signal?"

While another added: "I failed my test for signalling too soon," then a third commented: "You have to signal after checking mirrors, everyone should know that." And a fourth added: "I always do this and have been driving for 10 years."
