A white van was stopped by police on the belief that it had been stolen – in France.
The vehicle was spotted by officers from Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Taskforce last night (Tuesday, September 26) as part of a patrol in South Oxfordshire, Vale of the White Horse, and the South Buckinghamshire area.
Police constables Dollery and Bowers realised the van was wanted by Interpol, the international police organisation, as a possible motor vehicle stolen from across the Channel.
A spokesperson for the rural crime taskforce said: “The details were obtained and fed back to the correct departments for further investigation.”
The rest of the shift saw the officers check “lots of caravans” and pass on crime prevention advice to the owners.
