Stella McCartney and King Charles talked about something "very sexy" when she was awarded her CBE

Yesterday British fashion designer Stella McCartney was awarded a CBE for her commitment to fashion and sustainability.

The 51-year-old became emotional when receiving her award at Windsor Castle from King Charles, and said "I feel incredibly proud and honoured really," telling ITN, "I mean it's a cliche, but I do, I feel really very proud."

The designer wore a fitted navy dress to collect her award

She also revealed details of the private "sexy" conversation she had with the royal. Telling journalists outside, "I think one of the main reasons I was honored is for the sustainability that I do in fashion and I think that part is incredibly important that the two go hand in hand because for me the sustainability part is probably the most important part," she continued,  "We spoke a little about sustainability, actually, it's very sexy, regenerative cotton… I've been lucky enough to work with his majesty many times on sustainability and fashion and so he's very well versed."

The designer is renowned for her commitment to sustainability and prides herself on the company’s commitment to being a vegan friendly brand. None of her collections contain leather, feathers, fur or exotic skins, and none of the glues used in the brand’s shoes or bags come from animals either.

She also told journalists waiting outside, "I think that on the whole creativity in this country is it's one of our biggest exports and I don't think we know that, I think that we need to definitely champion and be proud of all of the creatives in great Britain, we are so incredibly good at creating. I mean I think we're one of the best in the world and the world of fashion is, is absolutely splattered with british designers and creative people, whether they be photographers or models or production people or knitwear designers, you know, we're everywhere, we have some of the greatest schools here and I'm very proud to be a female founded british fashion company."
