A dog that was so skinny his ribs were visible now looks completely unrecognisable after finding a forever home.

Before and after photos of Mr Flowers were recently shared on the r/BeforeNAfterAdoption forum on Reddit by someone in the family who took him in. They explained how a friend who works at Fluff Animal Rescue in Florida, US, told them about "a dog who needed urgent care" - so they stepped in and adopted him.

"He is now the most loved dog in the entire world and goes on daily outings to the tennis club with my dad," they added. The rescuer explained in the comments how Mr Flowers now gets "unlimited treats" and "as many neck scratches as he wants".

The photos showing the pooch before he was rescued are rather distressing. He looks extremely frail, and he's so underfed that his ribcage is visible. However, the more recent snaps show a dog completely transformed, well-fed and sporting a glossy black coat.

A TikTok post from Fluff Animal Rescue back in September described how Mr Flowers gained 4lb in one week after being fostered. They said he was "thriving" and "living his best life" in his new home.

Hundreds of people upvoted the before and after snaps on Reddit. One person commented: "Those first pictures are so sad. Looks like an awesome pup!"

Another said: "Thank you for saving this baby. I'm sure he will never forget how you changed his whole world." And a third said: "This made me so happy."

This comes after a canine behaviourist issued a serious warning concerning two particularly popular dog breeds, shedding light on the "problem behaviours" he encounters. Will Atherton, who has more than 900,000 followers on TikTok, explained how people inundate him with questions about their dogs every day, so he wanted to highlight the breeds that seem to be causing the most issues "right now".
