The star signs that are the best (and worst) at long-term relationships

From Cosmopolitan

Look, we're obsessed with star signs and we're not ashamed to admit it. Your zodiac can tell you everything from whether you're likely to get a ton of dating app matches to how hard you find it to get over an ex. It can even be used - alongside tarot cards - to predict your love life for summer 2020. What's not to love?! And, thanks to astrology, we also know which star signs are the best (and worst) at long-term relationships. Which is very important info with cuffing season now in full swing.

Buzz Bingo conducted some research into the longevity of celebrity relationships, based on their star signs. And the results are pretty damn interesting and can actually reveal which star sign to look for if you're after a relationship for cuffing season. "Cuffing season happens during the autumn and winter months, where individuals have a strong desire to be in a monogamous relationship," says Dr Lori Brotto. Cuffing season is commonly thought to begin in October and last until in March (crucially including Valentine's Day), as people get into relationships (or want to get into them) for the miserable winter months before breaking up and becoming single again ready in time for summer.

So if you're looking to have a long(ish)-term relationship with someone, here's which signs to look for...

Capricorns were found to have the longest relationships, with an average of five years and six months. Aquarius was next, at four years and 24 days.

Aries (three years, 10 months), Libra (three years, nine months), Gemini (three years, nine months), Taurus (three years, six months), Pisces (three years, six months), Sagittarius (three years, five months), Cancer (three years, four months), Virgo (three years, two months) and Leo (three years, five days) all had an average of three years or more.

And the star sign with the shortest relationships was Scorpio, at two years and seven months.

According to the research, Scorpio and Capricorn (a la Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry) is the star sign combination with the highest prospects for a long-term relationship. Closely followed by Aquarius and Pisces, like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Aquarius and Aquarius also seems like a good long-term match, as Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi are one of the most famous long-term Aquarius couples.

Aquarius and Capricorns have the shortest average relationship together - as Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran proved with their brief 31-day romance.

So there we have it, if you're looking for a long-termer, find yourself a lovely Capricorn. And if you're more interested in a short-but-sweet romance, hit up a Scorpio.
