Spring scents: 10 of the best
There is something magical about moving from one season to another. It inspires newness. New ways of thinking, seeing and, yes, smelling. Nashi Blossom by Jo Malone London is a fruity floral, but a hint of musk gives it an edge. Tender Light with bergamot and iris notes is also pretty, but simultaneously sexy. Jasmine, known for its sexiness, shows up in unexpected ways this season. Narciso Rodriguez’s For Her Forever is gardenia, tuberose and jasmine with the familiar smokiness of its now iconic predecessor, For Her. Loewe’s Aire Sutileza has notes of jasmine though in reality it’s citrussy. Jasmine also makes an appearance in Aerin’s Mediterranean Honeysuckle Clementina, however it’s the orange, bergamot and clementine that take you to the Italian coast. As does Acqua di Parma’s Colonia (the limited edition bottle created by designer Samuel Ross, makes it even more desirable). Fancy something left of centre? Jo Loves Ebony and Cassis juxtapositions the fruitiness of blackberries with the warmth of patchouli, cedarwood, nutmeg and myrrh. Diptyque’s Papier, inspired by the relationship between ink and paper, blends roasted sesame seeds and mimosa with white musk, while Perfumer H’s Woodland (orange, black pepper, wet moss and sandalwood) pays homage to Japanese woodland. And Coco Mademoiselle now comes in an addictive hair perfume. Sure, you probably never thought you’d need it but that’s part of the joy of something new.
