You're either a playlist kind of person - someone who takes pride in trawling through songs and artists and filing them meticulously into folders for every possible mood - or, like me, you really CBA, and just throw everything into one long list, which, admittedly, can be a pain to navigate mid-run.

If you fall into the latter camp, then you might be interested in Spotify's new function Soundtrack Your Workout, which will create playlists for you based on the length and style of your chosen session.

To use the new service, you'll have to answer a series of questions in a short quiz. Things like, how long you want your workout playlist to be (with options from 15 minutes to an hour); the type of exercise you're doing, whether you're lifting, running or doing barre, for example; pick a "workout mood" and music genre - though the categories in the latter are quite limited.

You can pick podcasts too, from true crime to comedy. Spotify reports that the top workout podcast globally in the last month was the Mind Pump, a show dedicated to providing health and fitness information, while the top workout song played was “Roses Remix” by SAINt JHN and Imanbek

The new personalised playlist function has its limitations but will come in handy when you're next dashing out the house and in search of something new to listen to.

"Listeners have created more than 800,000 workout playlists in the last 28 days," said Spotify’s trends expert, Shanon Cook. "For those who could use some inspiration, we hope that by offering fresh, personalized workout playlists, we’ll help boost motivation and keep spirits high."
