Son of I'm A Celeb's Barry McGuigan, who dated Maura Higgins, in hospital dash
Barry McGuigan's son Shane has revealed he is in hospital, with the boxer sharing a picture of himself hooked up to an IV drop to Instagram on Saturday. Shane, who is a boxing trainer like his famous dad, previously dated Barry's I'm A Celeb co-star Maura Higgins, and is now engaged with singer-songwriter Taylor West, whom he shares sons Finley George & Caelan James with.
Revealing he is in hospital this weekend, Shane took a selfie of himself with the IVF in his arm and captioned the image: "It's 1 thing after another atm." Shane didn't disclose why he was in hospital or what his health issue is.
While Shane is spending time in hospital, his dad Barry remains in Australia ahead of the I'm A Celeb final tonight (Sunday 8 November) which will see Danny Jones, Coleen Rooney or Reverend Richard Coles take home the crown. Narrowly missing out on the final, Barry left the jungle in a double elimination alongside Maura Higgins.

And the unlikely pairing actually have some history, as Barry's son Shane is said to have dated Maura before her Love Island stint and his romance with partner Taylor. A source told the The Sun: "Maura has brains and beauty, and she quickly caught Shane's eye. They went on a few dates and had fun, but Maura lives in Ireland, Shane is running his successful boxing gym in London, and then she was travelling for work so it wasn't easy to pull off."
The source revealed: "There were no hard feelings when it ended. It turned out to be short lived and the spark fizzled out."
When Maura entered the jungle, Shane speculated how she would get on with his dad. Chatting with Richard Arnold, Shane dished on Barry and Maura's first encounter on the show, revealing: "Maura as well she's an Irish girl - she's from a small town in Ireland - so they're both from the sticks. They would have been growing up as kids in a small town so there would be similarities there."
And it seemed Maura had the same opinion, as she told The Sun before heading into the jungle, Maura said: "I reckon I'd get on really well with Barry McGuigan. You know, Irish... I think he's very humorous."
Before jetting off to Australia, Barry shared with Belfast Live: "My sons, who I talk to all the time and ask for advice, I said, 'Should I do this?' They said, 'Yeah, dad. You've got good discipline, you're good with people and invariably you'll be aggravated and irritated and annoyed, but you've got good forbearance. You're good at handling stuff like that.'"
