Smoke Rises From Luhansk Oil Refinery as Governor Blames Russian Shelling

Smoke rose from an oil refinery outside Lysichansk, Luhansk Oblast, as the regional governor said on May 24 that Russian shelling had targeted the area.

Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai posted a video showing thick smoke pouring from the Lysichansk refinery, saying that Russian forces were targeting the Lysichansk-Bakhmut route, and had shelled the area “systematically.”

Haidai said the Russians were also trying to surround the Lysichansk and Severodonetsk bridges to further isolate the area.
