Will Smith shares Fresh Prince reunion photo 30 years after show's debut
HBO Max will be airing a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air one-off reunion special in late November.
Filming took place on Thursday and Will Smith shared a shot from set of the old cast.
First the Friends reunion and now a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion? Ok, so maybe 2020 isn't so bad after all. On Thursday, Will Smith shared the first pictures from the upcoming one-off reunion special, and it looks like the actor and the original Aunt Viv have finally patched things up!
ICYMI, Will and former cast mates Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey), Daphne Maxwell Reid (the second Aunt Viv), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), and DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz) were all confirmed to be appearing in the reunion, which is due to air in late November to coincide with Thanksgiving. Filming took place this week, which explains the epic photo taken 30 years since the show first debuted. Will captioned the shot:
Today is exactly 30 YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we’re doin’ something for y’all… a for real Banks Family Reunion is comin’ soon to @HBOmax!
In the caption, the actor also paid tribute to Uncle Phil actor James Avery, who died in 2014 aged 68. "RIP James," he wrote. "#FreshPrince30th."
Along with the cast snap, Will shared a picture of him chatting to the original Aunt Viv, played by Janet Hubert, which means the pair must be back on talking terms all these years later (27 to be exact).

Janet played Aunt Viv in the first three seasons before leaving the show in 1993, and later reportedly blamed the actor for her departure. In 2011, she famously told TMZ there would "never be a reunion… as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith", so we're glad to see she's a part of the reunion.
Meanwhile, HBO Max described the upcoming one-off show as "a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests".
We can't wait.
