As is customary these days, the photo was released via the official Royal Family Instagram and Twitter accounts.
The caption read: "Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral, a new photograph has been released. It was taken this year to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, as she became the first British Monarch to reach this milestone."
This newly released portrait of Her Majesty was taken at her home in Windsor Castle.
In the photograph, The Queen is smiling, wearing a pale blue dress, accessorised with a three-string pearl necklace, matching pearl earrings and two identical aquamarine and diamond brooches.
The brooches were a gift from her father, King George VI, for her 18th birthday in 1944. This is not the first time we've seen The Queen wear these sentimental brooches.
The Queen wore them for her televised Diamond Jubilee speech in 2012 and also her televised address to the nation on the 75th anniversary of VE Day in 2020.
