Back in October 2021, Sky Glass launched into the world, and you probably saw *all* the influencer on your Instagram timeline talking about the new TV. Sky Glass launched as Sky's first ever dish-free and box-free TV, promising to bring a whole array of channels to the comfort of your home, including Netflix, via your wifi broadband connection.

Here's everything you need to know about Sky Glass, from cost to installation to so much more.

So, what is Sky Glass?

Available for a one-off fee or on contract, Sky Glass is essentially a streaming TV, with Sky and all of your other usual streaming services like Netflix built inside.

It's available in three sizes - 43", 55" and 65" - and five colourways - Ocean Blue, Ceramic White, Racing Green, Dusky Pink, and Anthracite Black - plus a matching remote. It has Ultra HD and Quantum Dot technology, and digital tuners, so even if your wifi goes down, you can watch free-to-air channels in the mean time.

Sky Glass also has 360° Dolby Atmos sound through its integrated speaker system, auto switch-off and auto-adjusting screen brightness functions, plus it comes in recyclable packaging and is free from single use plastic.

How much does Sky Glass cost?

  • The 43" Sky Glass TV is priced at £649 outright, £13 per month (with a £10 upfront fee) on a 48-month contract, or £26 per month (with a £20 upfront fee) on a 24-month contract.

  • The 55" set is priced at £849 upfront, £17 per month (with a £10 upfront fee) on a 48-month contract, or £34 per month (with a £20 upfront fee) on a 24-month contract.

  • The 65" set costs £1,049 upfront, £21 per month (with a £10 upfront fee) on a 48-month contract, or £42 per month (with a £20 upfront fee) on a 24-month contract.

It's worth noting that the Sky Glass TV doesn't actually include any Sky TV packages - this is something you have to purchase on top of the TV, if you're not already a subscriber.

Sky Glass requires its Ultimate TV offering, which is both Netflix and Sky Q's signature channels, for £26 per month minimum - though you seem to get three months free if you sign up for a Sky Glass right now. Channels in Sky Q include Sky Atlantic plus 150 channels not on Freeview like SyFy, TLC, MTV, E! and National Geographic.

This means that the cheapest Sky Glass TV and Sky channels package works out at £39 per month. This equates to a 48-month contract for the TV, plus a 31-day rolling contract for the Ultimate TV bundle, minus up front costs. All the details for the different packages are here, and you can build a bundle that works for you, step by step.

When was the Sky Glass released?

Sky Glass went on sale in the UK over a year ago on Monday 18 October 2021. They describe it as "The TV you love, under one roof", explaining you can combine everything from exclusive Sky channels with sports, cinema, children's TV, National Geographic, Netflix originals and Freeview.

Which apps are on Sky Glass?

While Sky Glass doesn't offer catch-up channels like Channel 4+1 or ITV2 + 1, you can get all your usual apps and streaming platforms in one place. Those include Apple+ TV, Disney+, All4 and so on, though you do need to pay for them as you would a normal subscription.
