Skins actress Kathryn Prescott "lucky to be alive" and badly injured after being hit by a truck
Actress Kathryn Prescott, best known for her role as twin Emily Fitch in the teenage drama series, Skins, has been badly injured and hospitalised. Kathryn's real-life twin, Megan, shared on social media that her sister had "narrowly avoided paralysis" after being hit by a cement truck whilst crossing the road in New York.
Sadly, her injuries include a broken pelvis (in two places), both of her legs, her foot and her left hand. Kathryn's twin said that while doctors are now hopeful she'll be able to make a full recovery, she was "lucky to be alive".
Megan shared the news amid an urgent plea to her followers, asking if they might be able to help her join her sister in America, explaining that despite having been double vaccinated and having a negative PCR test, her emergency request for entry has been denied (due to COVID restrictions).
"I received the most terrifying phone call I’ve ever received in my life on Tuesday evening," Megan's post begins. "My twin sister Kathryn was hit by a cement truck while crossing a road in New York on the 7th September.
"After fighting through complex surgery some of Kathryn’s injuries include: broken pelvis in two places, both of her legs, her foot and her left hand. She is incredibly lucky to be alive. She narrowly avoided paralysis... She is alone in New York with no family members. I need help getting to New York to support her recovery. I will have to help her until she can start to walk again. She will be in rehab for a very long time and will need 24/hr care even after she leaves the hospital."
Megan urged her followers to please share her cry for help, adding that she currently doesn't know "what to do with [herself]" and that she was "heartbroken" not to be on-hand to support her sibling during this immensely difficult time.
"I don’t want her to go through this alone," she finished the post, along with asking people to respect Kathryn's privacy and to avoid contacting her while she rests and recovers.
Kathryn and Megan both rose to fame in 2009 when playing twins Emily and Katie Fitch in the third series of Bristol-based drama, Skins. Since then, Kathryn has appeared in Finding Carter and leant her voice to a role in Robot Chicken. Megan has taken on roles in the likes of Holby City and Silent Witness, as well previously competing in the United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (UKBFF) British Finals in October 2016.
