Six-year-old girl killed by her father's golf shot

Aria Hill, a six-year-old girl from Utah, has died after she was struck in the head by a golf ball hit by her father.

The girl's uncle says Aria was at the Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem, Utah with her dad when he took a swing and the ball went off course, hitting her in the back of her neck.

Aria was sitting in a parked golf cart near where her father was teeing off.

Aria's uncle, David Smith said: "She just happened to be in the exact wrong place, just directly across from him when it happened."

"It's a complete, fluke accident, you couldn't repeat it if you tried."

She was flown to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries.

Her uncle continued: "Aria was doing something she loved when this all happened, she was her dad's buddy, they would do things together all the time."

The community where the little girl lived is in mourning.

Police say they are investigating the incident as a tragic accident and do not plan to pursue charges.
