Simone Ashley's pink lingerie dress for The Little Mermaid premiere is everything 🙌
Since the first trailer was released monthsss ago, we have been eagerly counting down the days until the release of the hotly-anticipated Disney live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. And the wait to watch it is almost over, with the film's cast gathering for the premiere in Los Angeles last night.
But before we turn our attention to the film, can we take a minute to talk about the fashion on the appropriately themed ocean-blue carpet at the premiere? More specifically, Simone Ashley who wowed in an Atelier Versace fuschia pink mini dress from the fashion house's SS23 collection.
From the off-the-shoulder straps to the asymmetric draping and train situation, we are obsessed. The design ticked off two major trends for this season, nailing both Barbiecore thanks to the vibrant hue and the underwear-as-outerwear look with the lace detailing lending a lingerie feel.
Simone added a pair of Christian Louboutin silver pointed-toe heels to her negligee-style dress, and a pair of small silver and pink hoop earrings and a starfish-shaped Versace ring were the only accessories she needed. Here's another, close-up look at the dress in all its glory:
And another angle showcasing all the drama of that shredded train.
It's the latest in a long line of stand-out 'fits we've seen from Simone, who was once again styled for the event by Rebecca Corbin-Murray. The stylist also works with some of our other fave celebs including Florence Pugh and Priyanka Chopra.
Just a couple of months ago she rocked another pink micro-mini from Versace, taking to her Instagram to share snaps of herself strutting down a hotel hallway in the strapless floral-print dress.
Bridgerton star Simone was at the premiere as she is playing one of Ariel's sisters in the new film. Ariel herself is portrayed by Halle Bailey, and the movie's star also deserves a fashion shout-out. She looked like a literal mermaid in a custom Valdrin Sahiti design. The holographic metallic dress had an almost mirror-like texture and featured a shell-inspired bustier and fishtail silhouette to perfectly reference the occasion.
Now we just need the film to finally land in UK cinemas. The countdown continues...
