Agnes Jebet Tirop's husband arrested after she was found stabbed to death
Two others have also been arrested
The husband of two-time World Championship bronze medallist Agnes Tirop, who was tragically found stabbed to death at her home in Iten, Kenya on Wednesday, has been arrested.
Emmanuel Rotich what caught on Thursday as he tried to flee to a neighbouring country.
National Police Service Kenya published the following:
Suspected killer husband of Agnes Tirop, the long distance runner heroine recently murdered at her home, has been arrested.The suspect, one Ibrahim Kipkemoi Rotich,who has been on the run with police on hot trail, was nabbed in Mombasa by diligent police detectives.. https://t.co/hgWNI88IJa pic.twitter.com/frGv54XeFH

Rotich is currently held at Changamwe Police Station, where he is being questioned, awaiting transfer to Iten where he’s expected to face prosecution.
Two other people have also been arrested for complicity in the murder. 'He was arrested together with Silas Chilla Chellile and are both helping the police with investigations. John Kipkoech Samoe was earlier arrested for complicity in the murder and already arraigned in court for custodial sentence,' said a Twitter statement by National Police Service Kenya.
Athletics Kenya has suspended all athletics competitions for two weeks as a mark of respect for Tirop.
The 25-year-old's accolades include fourth in the 5000m at Tokyo 2021, bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships in the 10,000m and just last month, she broke the women-only record in the women’s 10km at the adidas Road to Records Race in Germany, with a time of 30:01.
Tirop also won the World Cross Country title in 2015, during which she made history as the second youngest medalist at that level.
She also won the Africa Cross Country Championship in 2014 in Kampala, Uganda as well as the World Junior Cross Country Championship in 2013 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
