Sheridan Smith will be back on your screens before you know it, as her latest drama No Return has now confirmed its release date.

Written by Brassic's Danny Brocklehurst and starring Smith and Michael Jibson, No Return follows parents Kathy and Martin as a trip to Turkey changes their family forever.

All hopes of a relaxing holiday are dashed when Kathy and Martin's teenage son Noah is arrested, plunging the family into chaos as they try to fight for their son's freedom.

Now, along with the release of a new teaser trailer, ITV has revealed that No Return will air the first of its four episodes on Monday, February 7 at 9pm.

Promising an intense and even difficult watch, Sheridan Smith recently admitted that there "was a lot of angst during filming", as No Return's drama spilled out off-camera.

"What happens to this family is so unexpected. They go off on holiday to Turkey, which they have been really looking forward to, and it turns into a disaster when their son Noah is arrested," she explained.

"I'm sure people will think about what they would do if that was their child... When I read the script, and then when I was playing the role, I was thinking, 'My god, if this was my son Billy, I can't imagine how I would feel.'"

Revealing a sense of "constant tension" on set, Sheridan added: "There was a lot of angst during filming. Lots of crying, lots of screaming, lots of constant tension."

Still, Smith is confident that viewers will be "gripped" by No Return's emotional story.

"It was harrowing to film," she said. "I've done lots of different roles but this is just like a hell ride – you don't really come up for air until the end... I hope viewers will be gripped to see what happens next."

No Return premieres on Monday, February 7 at 9pm on ITV.
