Shattered Ruth's wild summer with Rylan amidst Eamonn divorce woes

Fans were stunned when TV couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes revealed via a spokesperson on Saturday 25 May that they were divorcing - after 14 years of marriage and 27 together as a couple. The much-loved TV broadcasters, who previously presented ITV's This Morning together, have been married since 2010 and have a son. Jack, now 22.

It has been a difficult time for both in recent years, with Ruth losing her beloved sister Julia in 2019, and Eamonn’s torrid ongoing health battles seeing him cope with chronic leg and back pain, which has led to surgery - the star is often seen walking with a stick and has at times been seen in a wheelchair.

And now, a source has told OK! that Ruth, following their heartbreaking announcement, is dealing with a future that looks rather different to what her life has been up to now.

“Although this split happened a while ago, Ruth feels shattered as she’s had to put a brave face on for so long. It’s been a really tough time for her as her whole life has now changed,” they claimed. “She no longer has Eamonn and their son Jack is all grown up living his life - she feels a little lost. But she’s got a very strong group of friends who have all been there for her and will support her - with the main person being Rylan.”

Both Ruth and GB news host Eamonn’s close bond with some-time This Morning presenter Rylan has been well-documented. Appearing on Joe Lycett ’s live Channel 4 show Late Night Lycett last April, Rylan was asked by the comedian to name his famous friends. Admitting that he could “count them on one hand”, Rylan listed Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, as well as Claire Richards from Steps. “They’re my little nook,” he confessed.

The former CBB winner has opened up previously about how supportive Ruth and Eamonn have been of him, visiting him during the darkest moments of his battle with depression in 2022. Now, no doubt, Ryan will want to be there for his friends in their own times of need.

The source told OK! : “Rylan was close to both Ruth and Eamonn and owes them both a lot so he doesn’t want to take sides. But he and Ruth have always got on and love a party so Rylan has promised to take Ruth away this summer and make her go wild.

“She’s had a tough few years because of looking after Eamonn and also caring for her mum so he feels she deserves it – he’s desperate for Ruth to take Ruth clubbing in Ibiza!”

Who knows whether Loose Women panellist Ruth will take up her pal on his offer of a summer of clubbing - but there’s no doubt, she’s going through a tough time and some fun with a close friend would do her the world of good.
