Update: A Bumble representative has confirmed to Standard Online that Stone's profile has been restored.

Sharon Stone has surprised fans by tweeting an unexpected complaint about dating app, Bumble.

The 61-year-old actress revealed on Monday morning that her account on the app had been “blocked” after users - who were presumably stunned to have encountered a person claiming to be Stone - had reported her.

She wrote: “I went on the @bumble dating sight and they closed my account. [eyes emoji]

“Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me! Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary ? Don’t shut me out of the hive.” [sic]

Stone then followed it up by posting a screenshot of a message which read: “You’ve been blocked.”

“Your account has been blocked because we’ve received several reports about your profile being fake,” it said.

Fans soon shared their surprise at Stone being on Bumble while numerous Hollywood industry insiders replied to her post to recommend Raya, a private membership-based dating app.

On Tuesday morning, a representative for Bumble revealed that Stone's profile has been reinstated.

They told Standard Online: “Sharon Stone is back on Bumble! Our apologies for the confusion as we’re so honoured that Ms. Stone wants to be a part of the Hive. However, being the icon that she is, we can understand how so many of our users felt it was too good to be true once they noticed her profile wasn’t photo verified.

"Photo verification is just one of the many ways to connect with confidence on Bumble. In light of our mixup with Sharon Stone, we’d like to extend an invitation for her to come to Austin and allow us to host her at the hive for a few hours of profile prep and great food."

Stone was previously married to newspaper editor Phil Bronstein for six years, until the pair divorced in 2004.

Prior to that, she was married to producer Michael Greenburg from 1984, before the split in 1988 and divorced three years later.

Stone lives with her three sons in Los Angeles.
