Shane Richie and Hollie Arnold's 'I'm A Celebrity' trial is a wash out

Watch: Shane Richie and Hollie Arnold’s bushtucker trial washout

It looked so good on paper - Shane Richie’s extensive experience in smashing I’m A Celebrity’s trials, coupled with Hollie Arnold’s background as a Paralympic gold medal winner.

So Richie and Arnold’s campmates were shocked when the pair returned from their joint trial, Wicked Waterways, with just two stars.

As they headed out to take on the challenge, confidence in camp was high - especially as Richie had bagged 12 stars with Jessica Plummer the day before during a disgusting drinking trial.

Jordan North said: “I have never been more confident for a trial since I’ve been here.

“You’ve got full-house showbiz Shane Richie and you’ve got Hollie who is so determined and competitive that they will come back here tonight with 12 stars.”

Arnold had also expected to win, saying: “The pressure’s on as everyone’s done amazing. If we don’t get anything more than 10 plus stars I feel everyone’s mood will be… it’s got to be 12.

“Scrap that, it’s 12, we are going for 12.”

However, a combination of miscommunication, panic, and Richie almost losing his trousers meant that they returned with their tails between their legs and just two stars won, meaning four meals to share between the camp of 12 people.

Richie and Arnold had to crawl through tunnels stacked above each other, passing a water bucket through between them to fill up pipes until the stars floated to the surface.

Presenters Ant and Dec couldn’t stop laughing at the celebrities’ difficulties in the tunnels, and as Richie’s trousers got dragged lower and lower by the water Dec joked: “Alfie’s moon.”

As they had to go back and tell the rest of camp about the lack of food, Richie and Arnold’s campmates reacted with confusion.

Beverley Callard said: “Everyone’s a little bit, not fed up, we’re in shock.”

Camp has a new leader with Giovanna Fletcher in charge and Callard as her deputy, who have named Victoria Derbyshire and Vernon Kay as camp cooks.

Derbyshire said: “We’ve eaten like kings and queens the past few days and this is a real come down.

“It really doesn’t matter what ingredients, what food we get tonight. It’s obviously going to be very difficult to feed 12 hungry mouths.”

Kay said: “It’s our first night on cooking duty and we’ve been thrown under the bus, we’ve got four meals to feed 12 people, it’s going to be tough.”

The dinner delivery contained monkfish, a hit with the celebrities although they had tiny portions.

Richie will have a chance to redeem himself tomorrow as he has been voted to take on the next trial too, Chamber of Horrors, this time with AJ Pritchard.

The first celebrity will be voted out of camp tomorrow night.

I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV.
