Sex and the City's best jewellery moments
It may have been Fendi bags, Manolo Blahniks and designer dresses a go-go from the moment Sex and the City first burst onto our television screens 23 years ago, but jewellery lovers also have found plenty of glittering inspiration while watching HBO's flagship show over the years.
Thanks to costume designer Patricia Field's styling, the jewellery boxes of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Samantha Jones and Charlotte Yorke (played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, respectively) became every bit as iconic, and era-defining, as their wardrobes. After all, who didn't covet Samantha's chunky hoop earrings, which looked great with her late-Nineties slip dresses? Or rush to buy their own version of Carrie's gold nameplate necklace in the early Noughties?
Now that Sex and The City is officially coming back as a 10-part series called And Just Like That (alas, minus Samantha and her hoops), jewellery fans can't help but wonder what kind of sparklers the 50-something Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte will be wearing when we next see them.
To celebrate their imminent return, we look back at some of the quartet's best jewellery moments over the six series of SATC (plus its two films) and how to emulate their style yourself. Because that Carrie necklace still looks pretty good right now.

Carrie's nameplate necklace
It wasn't showy as some of Carrie Bradshaw's other statement jewels but this gold-plated chain was the piece that accompanied her throughout SATC, inspiring thousands of copycat styles along the way.
When Carrie lost it while living with Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov) in series six, such was her despair at losing her favourite sentimental charm that not even his offer of a string of Fred Leighton diamonds could soften the blow. Happily, the necklace turned up again in the lining of her handbag - once Carrie had decided to return to New York, of course.

Carrie's pearl and diamanté pieces
Necklaces were undoubtedly a Carrie Bradshaw trademark, as was layering them up to create a Boho-style 'neck mess' (now actually back in style, thanks in no small part to Instagram). We particularly loved the way Carrie mixed pearls and diamanté pieces (as here, in the first Sex and the City film) as easily as she mixed her Dior and denim.

Carrie's Tiffany cuff
For the opening credits of the first Sex and the City movie, Carrie swapped her famous pink tutu for a white Eugene Alexander dress and a gold Elsa Peretti bone cuff from Tiffany & Co.
In a series, and subsequently a film, where New York is arguably one of the most important characters, putting Carrie in one of the city's most venerable jeweller's iconic designs was a stroke of styling genius.

Samantha's 70s-inspired gold
Everything about Samantha oozed sensuality, and that included her jewellery collection. We loved her tactile gold chains which drew attention to her collarbones and her large hoops which reminded us of New York's disco heyday as they danced seductively about her neck.

Samantha's statement pieces
From her wardrobe to her one-liners, everything Samantha did was bigger, bolder and brighter. Her love of statement earrings pre-dated their return on the runways and every pair she wore was undoubtedly fabulous - even if sometimes they seemingly defied gravity.

Miranda's silver earrings
Feisty lawyer Miranda Hobbes mostly stuck to office-appropriate attire in the early seasons of SATC, but definitely hit her style groove a little later on. Tailored silhouettes and graphic prints gradually replaced her mannish shirts, while streamlined silver accessories happily replaced her penchant for delicate chandeliers which simply got lost in her hair.

Charlotte's classic investment pieces
Charlotte's jewellery was never showy or overtly statement-making, but rather the perfect finishing touch to her look. A traditional heart locket and a cool, tweed-inspired cuff were all she needed for this cold-shoulder ensemble (aside from Anthony, of course).
Time to dig out that nameplate necklace...
