Self-love is a journey, and it’s not always easy. Even storied and successful athletes struggle with it from time to time.
Serena Williams made that clear in her latest Instagram post. But she also made it clear that her goal is to practice self-love. The former professional tennis player has always been a powerful force on the court. Retirement from the game in 2022 wasn’t the only thing to bring major change in recent times. Last August, she gave birth to her second daughter, an experience that has brought change in her life and her body.
“Loving yourself is essential,” she wrote on Instagram post alongside a photo of herself holding baby Adira. “I find that I have to remind myself of that self-love through all different stages in my life. Right now I love that my body is not picture perfect. I love that I smell like milk - that milk sustains @adiraohanian I love getting to know a new version of my body. It is a change, but it’s a change that has been well worth it. So start this week, knowing that you are loved, and that starts with you.”
Feeling and being loved begins with embracing self-love as a practice, according to Williams and the wisdom she offered in her latest post.
We’ve always found the athlete incredibly inspiring, and this latest message is no exception. Take her advice and embrace self-love this week, no matter what.
