Serena Williams signed her daughter up for tennis lessons without telling the coach who she was.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday, the tennis star revealed her four-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia was attending private tennis lessons with a coach who didn't know who she was.

The athlete explained that she simply "didn't wanna tell" the private coach about her tennis background. However, the coach soon figured it out when Serena posted about the lessons on her Instagram.

On why Serena wouldn't teach her daughter tennis herself, she said, "I don't have the patience to teach tennis. I don't really like to play with people who don't know how to play tennis well. It drives me nuts.

"So, I was like, I can't. I don't have the patience for this. So I signed her up for a private teacher."

When asked to assess her daughter's ability, Serena responded, "I don't push her because I'm like, she's four. She's alright. I've seen four-year-olds that might take her out."
