Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause got us all talking last night when she debuted a surprise hair transformation on the red carpet at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Yep, the real estate turned reality TV star has traded in her go-t0 blonde locks for a silky, brunette look – and it's safe to say, we're big fans.

The 40-year-old paired her new 'do with a plunging red gown, strappy red heels and gold jewellery. She also opted for a paired-back makeup look, with neutral lipstick and a sweep of brown eyeliner to compliment her false lashes.

Sharing a series of photos from the night with her 2.6 million followers on Instagram, Chrishell said: "Needed a change!" Clearly, the new look went down a treat with her friends and followers, as they took to the comments section to share their love for her hair overhaul.

"I LOVE YOU AS A BRUNETTE!!!" wrote one Instagram user, with another commenting "Sis with the switch up 👏🏼." Selling Sunset costar Heather Young added, "🔥🔥🔥 ya girl... I did a triple take when I saw you tonight."

But, it turns out all is not quite as it seems, with Chrishell's hairdresser taking to Instagram to reveal how he achieved the look. Hint, it's a wig!

Sharing an inside look at the process on his own socials, Hollywood hair stylist Bradley Leake said: "There are so many great options to change up the hair colour without long term commitment! (toppers, wigs, extensions, etc)."

As for how Chrishell had "changed it up for the night", Bradley revealed he'd used a clever combination of colour-changing root touchup spray and root concealer powder to create a seamless look between the 40-year-old's real hair and extensions.

So, Bradley, when can we book you in?
