  • Selena Gomez shouted out her former best friend Demi Lovato following her emotional performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

  • The former Disney stars were best friends for years.

Selena Gomez clearly still has a lot of respect for her former best friend Demi Lovato, and we love to see it. The Rare singer took to Instagram last night to praise Demi for her incredible, heartfelt performance at the Grammy Awards, calling her "inspirational".

For those who missed it, Demi performed her newest single, Anyone, which she reportedly wrote and recorded just four days before her near-fatal overdose in 2018, according to TMZ. She was visibly emotional during the performance, and received a standing ovation and a lot of tears from the crowd.

While the audience at the event loved the song, they weren't the only ones. Selena Gomez shared a screengrab of the performance on her Instagram stories, captioning it: I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational and DESERVED this moment was. Demi I’m so happy for you. Thank you for your courage and bravery.”

Fans of Disney may remember that Selena and Demi were practically joined at the hip 10 years ago. They met back in 2002 while filming Barney and Friends, and both worked on shows for the Disney Channel before pursuing solo singing careers and drifting apart. We're glad to see there's still lots of love there, though.
