Selena Gomez has even more music on the way! Fresh off the release of her highly anticipated studio album, Rare, the 27-year-old singer shared her plans to release a few more bops. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gomez revealed that not every song made the cut on her latest album, and among those is a song with a familiar title. "There's a few other songs that I couldn't help but want to exist, so I can't really tell when, but one of my favorite tracks is called 'Boyfriend,'" she said. "I can't wait for people to hear that one."
It's no secret that Gomez's very famous ex Justin Bieber has a song of the same title, and it didn't take long before the comparisons started rolling in. Gomez and Bieber have released more than enough songs about each other to count, but could this one be a rebuttal to his 2012 hit? We'll sure find out when she releases the song!
Whether she's admitted it or not, it's clear to fans that many of the songs on her album Rare reference her on-again-off-again romance with the now-married pop star. Her first single "Lose You to Love Me" is believed to be about Bieber and his recent marriage to Hailey Baldwin. Gomez and Bieber split for good in March 2018, but the theories and references are still going strong.
"I think there came a point in my life where there were so many things being said on my behalf, and I found myself protecting people that didn't really protect me because I didn't want to start anything," Gomez said about "Lose You to Love Me" on Fallon. "But I had a right to say my side to the story and I felt like that was so liberating because it almost felt like I had let it go personally inside of me once it was out and that's the greatest gift."
