I'm mostly obsessed with Zendaya's incredible acting skills (have you seen Euphoria?!), but the other thing I like to check in on from time to time is her hair (so sue me, I'm a beauty editor).

The actress wears her locks naturally curly most of the time, but when she decides to switch things up, boy does she go for it.

Remember when she dyed it fiery-red for the press tour of Spider-Man: Far from Home? Oh, and when she got herself some chunky-blonde highlights to vote? And let's not forget the time she won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2020 Emmys and casually changed her hair halfway through the night.

Zendaya's recent hair transformation was for a W Magazine shoot alongside Malcom & Marie costar John David-Washington, and her honey-blonde bouffant was inspired by "an image by Slim Aarons of C.Z. Guest, a very tan, very blonde socialite who became, in that iconic image, the personification of wealth, status, and privilege." Zendaya specifically requested the mood of the shoot to be, “That life, but reimagined for now, with the look of then.”

When W Magazine released the images on Instagram they captioned the post: "@Zendaya loves transformation. When the world went into lockdown last year, the @Euphoria star quickly became restless; she missed engaging with alternate universes. To scratch that itch, she would often wear different wigs from her vast collection and create characters inspired by them. For her W shoot, being blonde was crucial. Her teased bouffant is both a jab at the traditional stereotypes of white women and a way to instantly become someone else. “The wig was important,” stylist @luxurylaw says. “The entire outfit—the jewels, the gorgeous gown, the stilettos—they don’t make the same statement without the blonde hair.”
